Triple P: Positive Parenting Program

Triple P is an evidence-based behavioural family intervention designed for parents of children with developmental difficulties. Parents with concerns about their child's development and/or behaviour who want to learn parenting skills that will specifically target those behaviours and encourage their child's healthy development will benefit from the Triple P program.

After completing the Triple P program, you can expect to develop:

  • Parenting strategies that you can use to manage your child's behaviours.
  • Positive parenting strategies for promoting your child's development.
  • Effective communication strategies.
  • An understanding of how to prevent difficulties (intensity and/or duration).
  • Knowledge to help you navigate routines effectively (mealtime, bedtime, toileting).
  • Connections with other parents who have common concerns.
  • An understanding of additional community resources as needed.

Incredible Years Training Series

Widely implemented throughout the world since it was first published in 1984, The Incredible Years Series is a training program for parents, teachers, and children age 0-12. Using group methods including discussions and role play, and with the help of materials such as DVDs and books, the goals of the Incredible Years Series include:

  • Promotion of child social competence, emotional regulation, positive attributions, academic readiness, and problem solving.
  • Improved parent-child interactions, building positive parent-child relationships and attachment, improved parental functioning, less harsh and more nurturing parenting, and increased parental social support and problem solving.
